Description
The other kids at the Carellonian College of Mystics called him Master Mold, the Slime Lord, even Funguy. He actually kinda liked the last one, but they never meant it ‘that’ way. Given his unique interest, his somewhat odd way of behaving in public, and his obvious racial background, one would think he never got laid. Quite the contrary, as the preeminent chemistry student, coupled with his penchant for mushrooms, assorted questionable herbs, and pipeweed, he became a very popular guy,… well, with a certain crowd. Unfortunately, that crowd wasn’t exactly his mental equivalent, so that still left him rather lonely.
Slumming around the mage district of New Calladon one day, wandering through the shops, looking for anything that looked interesting, odd, maybe a bit questionable from a legality standpoint, he soon found himself being pummeled by a sawed off runt of a gnome. Blows led to curses. Curses led to more inventive curses, which led to more blows. A few spells were thrown, but all that they managed to do was make a mess out of the shop they were in. There was blood, a few bruises,… and there were city constables dragging both of them off to lockup. Apparently, the shop owner, some woman named Synestra Delauric, was somebody. However, that somebody knew other somebodies who decided to make the whole thing disappear. When a strange beardless Dwarf showed up at the jail, a dwarf wearing a ridiculous top hat and with long blonde hair hang down to there,… well, Modlrin knew that something weird was about to happen to him. Well, what else is new?

Moldrin Kront’taerth was born in the way very few Half-Drow are born, to a moderately stable family with two parents that actually loved each other. His father, a Carellonian soldier and part-time adventurer, had met a beautiful Drow woman in his journeys in the UnderDark. One of the renegades who fought against Lolth, she had her own way of looking at life, but the Sisters of the Spider and the Priestesses of Lolth were bound and determined to wipe out all worshippers of false Gods. Fortunately, or rather unfortunately, his mother, Angdiira Kront’taerth, wasn’t a worshipper of Treallar, or even Eilistraee. She worshipped the strange, mildewed, misshapen one, Ghaunadaur, the God of Slime, Mold and Oozes,… a strange religion to be sure.
Moldrin grew up knowing the stench of mildew more than he knew the smell of fresh earth, flowing magma or weapons oil. Naturally, his talent, his natural proclivity for mold defined him. After his human father died of old age, he took his mother’s name, as was custom with the Drow. Once he was sent off to school in Carellon, he began to truly understand just how odd, how different he was. Problem was, it never bothered him to be the odd man out. In fact, he rather liked it.

Personality: A bit odd. Given to occasional boughts of drunkenness or being drugged out of his gourd. Has few friends, but they are all very close and imminently trustworthy. Slow to trust or accept new people. Knows the pain and hatred of being rejected by everyone and refuses to get close to people for that reason,… still ever once in awhile, something just clicks with someone. Introvert,… not completely socially maladjusted, as he can be quite charming when he wants to be,… just doesn’t see the point most of the time.
