As cities on Arrallon go, Carellon is probably one of the biggest and certainly the most progressive. Yet, compared to ancient Earth or any of the tech worlds in the galaxy, it’s probably not so impressive. With slightly over a million and a half souls living and working at this port on the mouth of the Carel River, with the palace of the King and the offices of the Majistrum up town, it’s still a sight to behold. For those who haven’t visited magic worlds before, it’s much more impressive than its size would indicate. If you were trying to picture a rough equivalent in your limited experience, try Earth, London, circa 1912 AD, with magic instead of gaslight and machinery.
In this swirling mass of people, one can find just about any race, any species wandering the streets. There’s more crime in the backstreets of this one city than you’ll likely find in all the other ports of the Kingdom, save perhaps Wyreport. And with that underbelly, there are plenty of people whose job it is to enforce the law and bring those criminals to justice. Not all of them wear a badge. Some of them hardly wear anything at all.
When Kaylynn Wintercrest first got into acting, it was in school. Yet, her natural talents, her naturally voluptuous curves, and her uncanny sense of balance for being so top heavy, landed her squarely in Erotic training. But just being an Erotic is no guarantee of success. The temples in Carellon are sick with Erotics with a religious agenda. The docks are fully stocked with petty sluts selling a tumble for a shil. When Kaye Crest broke onto the stage, she was literally tumbling. But that wasn’t the extent of her talents. There was so much more to Kaye than meets the eye,… and what meets the eye is quite a lot.
At length, she became a freelance investigator, working with private dicks whenever and wherever she could. That brought her to the attention of the Tallivian Guard. From time to time, she was hired to tail this guy or that girl, keep an eye on an ambassador, or entertain a visiting prince. The jobs always had a hidden side to them,… selling secrets brought in a lot more cash than selling sex. To Kaye, the sex was just living anyway,… but spying, that was invigorating, dangerous, and occasionally deadly. In Kaye’s words,… “You ever been stung by a dead bee?”
A girl like that doesn’t make it far without somebody watching her backside. Well, Kaye had throngs watching her backside, but few would actually raise a finger if things turned bad. That’s when she hooked up with Jack Drummond, the private dick down on the central docks district, and a member of the Carellonian Nights venture company. And when the infamous porn starlet, Miri Vyron, moved into town to headline in some highbrow sex show at the Theater Royale, most folks knew she was there because she was secretly seeing the King behind everyone’s back. The Tallivian Guard reached out to Kaye and got her an understudy spot at the Royale, to keep an eye on Miss Vyron. When that whole affair started to go south, Kaye was the one that initially leaked the news to the Tallivian Guard, Jack Drummond, and eventually Miri’s old friends in the Night Raptors.
After a year or so playing the stage in Carellon, having taken Miri’s place in the first play and a successful run with several follow on projects, Kaye got involved with the Night Raptors once again when some of Miri’s things resurfaced in the hands of a Tiefling mercenary named Red. Her society contacts, especially with those of a less than savory nature, allowed her to ferret out the arrival of the ship smuggling a viral agent into the city with the intent of destroying Carellon. The plot was obviously thwarted, but Kaye’s destiny changed. She was now a full time member of the Night Raptors,… and just a part time actress and singer,… but still a fulltime sex bombshell.
She lives in Raptor Place, way up on Mount Syvasmyr, right next door to Kar’Dhaer,… why don’t you come up and see her some time. You don’t mind if she smokes, do you?
