Races of Arrallon - Half-breed Lineup 02

The rarest half-breeds are an interesting bunch indeed.  Most of them are the off-spring of races that one would never suspect of being able to breed with anything outside of their own race.  Typically, it’s a matter of size.  But in all cases, some method is always found to overcome such hindrances.

Half-Giant (stone) – 8’8”, 743^#

Perhaps one of the strangest half-breeds is the Half-Giant.  Not so much strange from their appearance, existence or abilities, but strange wondering how they were conceived in the first place.  The Half-Giant who is born by any method approaching normal is the off-spring of a female giant and a male of whatever race, usually Human or Orcish.  Some giants have never successfully bred a Half-Giant.  The most common are the Stone, Hill and Frost Giants. 

Half-Ogre – 7’, 521^#

Even stranger than the Half-Giant is the Half-Ogre,… for who in their right mind would ever have sex with an Ogre?  In such cases, the Human or Orcish parent is rarely given a chance to decline.  Half-Ogres are more often than not bred on purpose inside Ogrish villages to serve as smarter, albeit smaller and weaker, leaders and mages.

Half-Troll – 5’10”, 162^#

The Arrallonian Half-Troll is not what off-worlders think it is.  They are the off-spring of human or Elven women seduced and impregnated by one of the True Trolls, short, harry, ugly beasts more akin to Dwarves than the hulking monstrosities that adventurers normally face.  The True Trolls are skilled shapeshifters and master manipulators.  And when one of their half-breed progeny is created, they rarely care or come back to visit.  The child grows as a normal member of his human or Elven parent, until reaching the age of puberty.  Then, in a horrid transformation, they assume their true form, the form they’ll be stuck with the rest of their lives.  Unlike so many other crossbreeds with the dark races, the Half-Troll is rarely ugly.  A small percent, merely grow massive muscles and a dark complexion.  Most, however, transform completely, their skin turning bright green and their hair pure white.  These are also referred to as Sirines, though they have nothing to do with the waterborne nymphs.  Their thin frames regenerate at incredible rates, and they can hold their breath for hours at a time, making them perfect swimmers.

Half-Genie – 5’8”, 123^#

Most Half-Genies are killed at birth by their Genie parent, for the threat of the power of the Genies getting into mortal hands is sacrilege to them.  Their ancient hatred goes back to the time of creation, when the elder elemental Gods created the Genies, and Ra cast them out as flawed and vile.  Then Isis and Osiris created man and he found favor with Ra.  The jealousy of Ra’s love has turned the Genies further and further away from Him.  The few Half-Genies that manage to survive are typically Half-Djinn, for the Genies of the air have less hatred for man than the others.  Half-Genies are usually beautiful, lithe creatures, and are possessed of shapeshifting powers to hide their true natures.

Heru-ur – 5’8”, 112^#

In the western areas of the great Symballan desert are the aeries of Skycliff.  There dwell the Mystaino, a race of shapeshifting bird folk, distant cousins of the Aaracokra and the Kenku.  They are as free-loving as any Atheaen woman, and more likely to care for children born by accident.  These half-breeds are called Heru-ur.  They, like other half-breeds of shapeshifting races, have shapeshifting powers of their own.  However, they have only two forms, one as the race of their non-Mystaino parent, and a true, hybrid form half-way between their avian parent and their non-avian.

Zylotrope – 5’8”, 218^#

The Zylotrope is not truly a half-breed at all, but a genetically created mutation.  They are bred in test tubes and grown in maturation chambers.  The Zylotrope gene is spliced into the egg of any race, humanoid or not, and the result is a stronger, more powerful creature, with inherent energy resistance and inborn knowledge of military tactics and warfare.  They are a leftover of the Republic’s genetics experiments.  Yet, in the absence of the Antarian Republic, who or what they serve is anybody’s guess.  Their genetics allow them to move with ultimate stealth, their epithelials, hair and fluids, dissolving utterly within minutes of their passing, leaving no forensic evidence of their presence.  They are immune to numerous types of radiation, and their mutated muscle mass makes them unbelievably strong for their size.
