Description

But what do you do when your life long goal has been attained and there’s nothing left but pain and blood?  Aesryth continued hunting Orcs, but only when there was a bounty to be had.  Her hatred began to wane as her coin purse began to swell.  Her new found infamy made her the perfect choice for nobles and sheriffs to hire her to bring back that which they’d lost.  People, monsters, family heirlooms, priceless artifacts,… it didn’t matter to her.  If they could pay her price, she’d bring it back,… dead or alive.

In March of the year 1048 of the Human calendar, she was commissioned to track down a wayward slave once owned by a Malgaran sorcerer.  She was hired through intermediaries, as the sorcerer would never leave his compound far to the south.  She also learned that his power was such that he could see things far across the forests and mountains of Taure.  The latter was stated as a sly threat.  She would supposedly suffer greatly if she betrayed the bounty.  Such threats did little to change her dedication to the hunt, nor did she fear wizards and their ilk.  Magic rarely affected her, and she had never reneged on a commission.

So she loaded up and headed east out of Highchurch.  She picked up the trail of a dark-skinned female Bountyhunter who’d been working the area around Holyfalls, but that was over a year ago.  The trail wandered this way and that, eventually taking her to a more recent sighting in a small roadside inn between Northport and Highaven.  A week later she was standing on the docks of Highaven, watching the sea birds and the busy port.  The winter that had held on so long this year had finally given way to the promise of spring.  Then a messenger caught up with her.  The slave she sought had been identified and the sorcerer now knew exactly where she was, on the way to her death in the frozen northlands.  The sorcerer no longer had any need of her services.  If, by some wild chance, this slave managed to survive the crucible she was about to enter, the sorcerer would honor his previous offer,… assuming Aesryth could take down the Executioner known as Grace Steele, one of the Heroes of Highaven.
